Mehfil-E-Andaz:  Lucknow Enchanted by Soulful Sufi Vibes!

On a serene March evening, Tickled Pink came alive with the mystical strains of Sufi music as Lucknow welcomed the much-anticipated “Mehfil-E-Andaz”. From the very first note, the air was charged with an intimate, almost magical energy, drawing music lovers into a shared celebration of rhythm and poetry. The evening’s heartbeat was undoubtedly Andaz, whose soulful voice effortlessly carried the depth and emotion that define Sufi music. As he stepped onto the stage, the crowd seemed to hold its breath, and for a few moments, the room transformed. Listeners swayed gently to the melodies, some closing their eyes to fully absorb the music, while others simply let the rhythm guide them through an emotional journey that felt personal yet collective. Soulful and pristine,  what made the night truly special was the seamless blend of tradition and modernity. Andaz’s repertoire honored classic Sufi nuances while infusing contemporary vibes, creating a musical experience that was both timeless and fresh. Elegant decor, soft lighting, and the audience’s enthusiastic response added layers to the atmosphere, making the event feel less like a concert and more like a heartfelt gathering among friends, a true mehfil. Every corner of Tickled Pink seemed alive with music. The combination of Andaz’s powerful vocals, the stage ambiance, and the collective energy of the crowd created a spellbinding vibe that lingered long after the last note faded. Mehfil-E-Andaz wasn’t just an evening of music; it was a celebration of emotion, connection, and the soul-stirring power of Sufi art, leaving everyone  yearning for more.

Spring Glow Guide: Fresh Skincare and Makeup Trends Women Are Loving This Season With spring in the air, there’s a natural urge to refresh not just wardrobes, but beauty routines as well. For many women, the season brings the excitement of lighter skincare, glowing makeup, and effortless looks that feel as fresh as the weather itself. From sun protection to dewy finishes, spring beauty is all about looking radiant while keeping the skin healthy. As temperatures rise, skincare becomes the first priority. Protecting the skin from harsh sunlight while maintaining a natural glow is key. Tinted sunscreens, CC creams, and lightweight foundations are quickly becoming beauty essentials, offering coverage for tanning, dullness, and pigmentation while shielding the skin from further damage. Brands like Lakme, Foxtale, and Bella Vita Organic are focusing on skincare-infused makeup that helps consumers achieve an HD, luminous finish without feeling heavy in the summer heat. For everyday wear, tinted sunscreens from Lakme and Foxtale can create the perfect “no-makeup” makeup look. Pair them with a soft touch of blush, a subtle highlighter, and a tinted lip gloss to achieve that naturally flushed, sun-kissed glow that feels effortless and fresh. CC creams are another favorite for spring, especially for workdays when you want a neat, matte finish that lasts. A light base, defined lashes with volumizing mascara, and a matte lipstick can create a polished yet simple office look. Nude shades remain timeless for everyday wear, while bold colors like deep red or burgundy are perfect for moments when you want to leave a lasting impression at meetings or special occasions. For evening plans whether it’s a concert, a celebration, or a night out, lightweight foundations can help create a flawless base without feeling heavy. Popular options from brands like Armani Beauty, Swiss Beauty, Renee Cosmetics, Lakme, Dior, and Maybelline are ideal for building a glowing evening look. A touch of contour, softly blended blush, and a carefully chosen lip combination perhaps a brown lip liner, matte lipstick, and a hint of gloss can transform a simple makeup routine into a statement look. It’s not about wearing more makeup, but about wearing it in a way that enhances natural beauty. This season, the popular “It-Girl” makeup trend celebrates exactly that light coverage, sculpted yet natural-looking cheeks, glowing skin, and a bold or glossy lip. It’s a look that feels modern, confident, and refreshingly effortless. Spring beauty, after all, isn’t just about trends. It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin, stepping out with confidence, and letting your natural glow shine through wherever the season takes you.

Building Dreams Creating Landmarks

An inspiring achiever Sukkham Bagga, speaks to Indie Times on transforming the Real Estate sector in Dubai with expertise and vision. How would you describe yourself with all that you have achieved today? I think I have come quite far and when I look back at my journey I see myself as a purpose‑driven real estate professional in Dubai who blends market insight with a design‑thinking mindset. My background in interior design and vastu today represents my holistic approach to spaces, even though I currently focus primarily on real estate here. As a fashion and lifestyle blogger who believes that style, energy, and living spaces go hand in hand I have successfully achieved a balance of all three inturn empowering my  clients and inspiring others to pursue balanced and meaningful success.. As a mother of three and a supportive partner to Charan in our shared vision, I have led with resilience and empathy helping me achieve a good work life balance. Do you think that women today holding powerful positions are accepted in their power roles today? There has been real progress. More and more women are visible in leadership roles. Yet biases and double standards persist in many sectors and regions. Acceptance grows where leaders deliver results and foster inclusive environments. The path forward is sustained by credible performance, policies that support work‑life balance and strong mentorship for women stepping into and thriving in power roles. In your opinion, how are Indian women viewed globally today? Globally, Indian women are increasingly recognised as dynamic leaders across entrepreneurship, professions, arts, sciences and public life. Our education, adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit are widely acknowledged, especially within the Indian diaspora that amplifies these narratives. At the same time, stereotypes persist about tradition and gender roles. We should continue to showcase authentic achievements.  Tell us about your journey from a homemaker to a successful entrepreneur, a fashion blogger, and a mom? My journey began at home, balancing motherhood with a growing curiosity about spaces and design. I earned a Diploma in Interior Designing and a Vastu certification. Though my work in Dubai is focused on real estate today, those studies inform my holistic perspective on spaces. Based on that I will eventually build a brand that spans real estate, design and adjacent thinking and lifestyle content. It requires disciplined time management, lifelong learning and a commitment to uplifting others through every milestone and setback. I am ready for all of it. You are also a Vastu expert. A totally different field from what you were in? Yes. Vastu complements my work in real estate by adding an energetic, holistic lens to space planning. Even if I’m not actively practising interiors or Vastu in Dubai today, the knowledge enhances how I evaluate spaces, guide clients and propose harmonious solutions. It’s an added dimension that aligns with my broader mission to create meaningful and balanced environments. You are in Dubai in the midst of a war zone following America’s attack on Iran. Yes, I am in Dubai. My husband and kids are in India, and they are safe, which helps. I am worried that the Iran-US confrontation could get worse, but I am following the official safety guidance from UAE authorities. Dubai is stable and well run, though the situation is uncertain. I cope by staying in touch with my family through regular calls, sticking to a routine, and leaning on local friends and the community for support. I am grateful for the help available here and I will stay informed and prepared. There are reports that the Dubai government has told hotels to look after travellers stranded because flights are disrupted, at no charge, with free meals and accommodation, and that the government will pay the costs. If true, this would show Dubai’s strong support for residents and visitors during crises. I still think Dubai is one of the safest places on earth. What is that one advice you would give women juggling multiple roles as moms, homemakers, and businesswomen? Based on my own experience, I would encourage women to first define their non-negotiables and set clear boundaries. When you know what truly matters to you, it becomes much easier to make decisions that protect both your time and your energy. Building a trusted team and learning to delegate effectively is also incredibly important. You don’t have to do everything on your own. Planning ahead, batching tasks, and managing your time intentionally can make a huge difference in staying productive without feeling overwhelmed. Equally important is investing in self-care and surrounding yourself with a strong support system in people who uplift you and understand your journey. Seeking mentors who appreciate the reality of multitasking can also provide valuable guidance and perspective. Most importantly, focus on impact and consistency rather than perfection. When your work is aligned with your core values, success feels not only achievable but also meaningful.

A Second Chance at Childhood: How Mukhya Mantri Baal Sewa Yojna Is Supporting Young Lives.

Sometimes the true strength of a government is seen in how it cares for its most vulnerable children. The Mukhya Mantri Baal Sewa Yojana in Uttar Pradesh is one such initiative that Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath created to ensure that children who have lost their parents or guardians do not lose their chances for a secure and hopeful future. Launched by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the scheme was designed to provide financial support, education assistance, and emotional security to children who suddenly find themselves without parental care. Losing a parent is a life-changing moment for any child, and the programme aims to step in during this difficult time so that their basic needs and aspirations are not compromised. Under the scheme, eligible children receive a monthly financial assistance to support their upbringing. This amount helps cover everyday needs such as food, clothing, and schooling. More importantly, it ensures that children can continue their education without interruption. Education support under the scheme also includes assistance for school-related expenses and guidance so that children remain connected to the learning environment that shapes their future. For girls, the scheme also includes provisions for additional financial assistance when they reach adulthood, helping them pursue higher education or prepare for independent life. These measures are meant to provide a sense of security and stability during years that can otherwise feel uncertain. Beyond financial aid, the initiative carries a deeper message that children facing personal loss are not alone. Local authorities and child welfare systems work together to monitor the well-being of beneficiaries and ensure they receive proper care and opportunities. In essence, the Mukhya Mantri Baal Sewa Yojana is not just a welfare programme; it is a promise. A promise that even in the face of tragedy, every child deserves protection, dignity, and the chance to dream of a better tomorrow.

Your Emotions are Shaping Your Reality, Are You Listening?

Aruna Panday is a well known Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP) expert and a Manifestation Coach In my journey as a Mindset and Manifestation coach, I have realised one thing very clearly, people spend a lot of time working on their goals, but very little time working on their emotional well-being. And yet, our emotions quietly shape everything.  Many people try to manifest success, abundance, or better relationships while carrying unprocessed stress, fear and self-doubt inside. When our inner world feels chaotic, it becomes difficult to create the desired reality. Emotional well-being is not about feeling positive all the time. It is about learning to understand and process your emotions instead of suppressing them.  Every emotion is simply an information that tells us what we need, what we value, and most importantly what we need to heal. So how can we work on our emotional well-being? It begins with awareness. Take a few moments every day to check in with yourself and ask, “What am I feeling right now?” Without judging the emotion, simply notice it.  Another powerful step is learning to pause before reacting. When something triggers you, give yourself a moment to breathe and respond consciously rather than reacting mindlessly. Practices like journaling, visualization, and reframing our thoughts can also help us process emotions in a healthier way.  These simple tools help us understand our patterns and gradually shift them. Over time, these small practices create emotional strength and clarity. You become calmer, more resilient and more aligned with yourself. I truly believe emotional well-being is the foundation of manifestation. When your inner world feels balanced and supported, your outer world begins to reflect that same harmony. So heal your emotions and transform your reality!

Mushairas Are Back — And Gen Z Can’t Get Enough

Mushairas Are Back — And Gen Z Can’t Get Enough

There was a time when mushairas were seen as the preserve of serious literary circles — elderly patrons in crisp achkans, scholars debating metaphors long after the event ended. But something has shifted. Today, the front rows are filled with college students. Young women record verses softly on their phones. Boys who grew up on reels and rap,  whisper “wah wah” with surprising sincerity. Winter evenings in Lucknow have a rosy hue to them, but now there’s a certain warmth in the air that has nothing to do with the weather. In a café tucked inside Hazratganj, in a college auditorium, in an old courtyard in Chowk, even on someone’s terrace under a shawl of fairy lights,  poetry is being recited again. And every time a poet pauses after a stirring line, the crowd responds almost instinctively: “Irshaad! Irshaad!” What wonder then that Gen Z today has discovered  poetry that hits differently when it’s spoken aloud. In a world of 15-second clips and endless scrolling, there’s something about sitting still and listening, really listening,  to a poet take their time with a thought.  A heartbreak sounds heavier when it echoes through a hall. A line about longing feels sharper when the audience falls silent before erupting into applause, nuances that remind you of yesteryears and the bygone era when the literati of Lucknow were frequent visitors to such gatherings. Social media, ironically, has helped bring this old-world format back into focus. Snippets of Urdu and Hindustani couplets go viral. A well-recited sher circulates on Instagram. Suddenly, words once confined to dusty books are being captioned under selfies and shared in stories. But the screen is only the beginning. Khushbir Singh Shaad, noted poet and writer, says that for a city long proud of its tehzeeb, the revival of the mushaira is not a passing trend but a true homecoming. He credits social media for taking shayari to the masses. “Today, verses are easily accessible online, simple to understand, pleasing to hear, and highly relatable for younger audiences. With many in Gen-Z unfamiliar with the Urdu script, publishers are increasingly printing Urdu poetry in Hindi, making it more accessible and instantly popular.” Shaad observes that much of the shayari trending online explores heartbreak, pain, escapism, and unfulfilled love themes that resonate deeply with young people. As many are still finding their footing in life and often feel uncertain about the future, they naturally gravitate toward poetry that echoes their emotions and lived experiences. But what truly draws them in is the live experience is the depth of the poet’s voice in a live poetry session, the deliberate pause before the final word, the collective gasp at a clever twist. It’s not just about literature; it’s about being present in a room where everyone feels the same line at the same time. In Lucknow, where culture is never really lost but simply waiting to be rediscovered, the mushaira’s revival feels natural. The younger generation isn’t just attending,  they’re participating, writing, performing and reclaiming. So as long as there’s someone in the crowd ready to say “Irshaad,” poetry here will never go out of style.

Chand Raat in Lucknow is more than a night of shopping. It is a celebration of tradition, culture and togetherness. As laughter fills the streets and mehndi stains deepen overnight, the city waits eagerly for the joyful morning of Eid. The sighting of the Eid moon marks the beginning of Chand Raat, one of the most vibrant and eagerly awaited nights in the city of Lucknow. As soon as the moon is announced, markets across the city burst into life, filled with excitement, colour and celebration. The lively lanes of Aminabad and Chowk remain crowded till late at night as people step out for last minute Eid shopping. Stalls decorated with sparkling bangles, jewellery and accessories attract women and young girls who eagerly prepare for the festival. One of the most cherished traditions of Chand Raat is applying mehndi. Artists sit along busy streets and market corners, carefully creating beautiful henna designs on waiting hands. From simple floral patterns to intricate bridal style designs, mehndi is an essential part of the celebration. For many, it symbolizes joy, festivity and the beginning of Eid celebrations. Another highlight of the night is buying chooriyan or glass bangles. Colourful stalls display rows of shimmering bangles in shades of green, gold, red and silver. The delicate sound of bangles clinking as women try them on adds to the festive charm of the evening. Choosing the perfect set to match Eid outfits is a ritual many look forward to every year.
