Yash Garg and Zeeshan spin Kashi out for 118
After winning the toss, Meerut captain Rinku Singh elected to bowl first.
Kashi Rudras opener Abhishek Goswami provided his team with a solid start, scoring 42 runs off 32 balls. However, Yash Garg struck to dismiss Kashi captain Karan Sharma, giving Meerut an important breakthrough. Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who finished with impressive figures of 3/19, then combined with pacer Vishal Chaudhary (2/13) to put the Kashi middle order under pressure.
Garg’s four-wicket haul also took him past the landmark of 50 wickets in his tournament career, taking his tally to 51. Kashi Rudras were eventually bowled out for 118 in 20 overs.
119-run chase turns into a thriller
What appeared to be a modest target became a dramatic chase as Kashi’s bowlers kept the pressure firmly on Meerut. Wickets continued to fall, and with just one wicket remaining, Meerut’s hopes of victory appeared to be fading. But Garg had other ideas.The all-rounder produced a stunning finish under enormous pressure, striking three sixes and a boundary in the decisive final over before calmly taking the winning run from the last ball. The result left Kashi Rudras with a bitterly disappointing defeat after they had controlled much of the contest.
Reflecting on the loss, Kashi captain Karan Sharma said, “It is a disappointing loss. The way the team fought, it is painful to lose, but that is part of the game. Our bowlers had executed their plans brilliantly and put us in a winning position. Full credit goes to them.” Asked where the match slipped away, Sharma said, “We lost the match in the final over. Until then, we were in a very good position. We will work on our mistakes and sit down to discuss how we can improve in the upcoming matches.”
