A vibrant burst of colour brought crowds flocking to the National Botanical Research Institute in Lucknow, as the city’s much-loved annual Bougainvillea Festival unfolded at its botanical gardens. Organised by the CSIR institute, the two-day celebration turned the campus into a floral paradise, drawing gardening enthusiasts, students, and families alike.
With over 300 varieties of bougainvillea on display, the festival was a visual treat showcasing hues that ranged from vivid pinks and deep purples to delicate whites and warm oranges. Around 64 participants put forward more than 200 entries across nearly 20 categories, including intricate bonsai arrangements, potted plants, and creatively designed landscape exhibits.
Beyond the stunning displays, the festival offered an interactive experience. Visitors engaged with horticulture experts, picking up tips on terrace gardening, plant care, and practical ways to grow bougainvillea in urban spaces—making the event as informative as it was beautiful.
The festival wrapped up with an award ceremony recognising the most outstanding displays, leaving visitors inspired by the sheer diversity and resilience of these striking blooms proof that even the most delicate flowers can thrive brilliantly with the right care.
